Subject: Baby Extra – Helping parents with psychological problems to bond with their babies.
To be able to develop a safe bonding, babies need parents who are sensitive to their needs. The background of Baby Extra is that, when parents have problems of their own, they find it harder to focus on their baby and they find it difficult to ask for help. Baby Extra is situated at a location where all Dutch parents come with their babies: het Consultatie Bureau (Child Health Center). Baby Extra will also visit parents at home.
In 2007 she and her department Baby Extra won the Nationale Jeugdzorg Prijs (The National Youth Care Price) of 25.000 Euro.
